CHANGE IN EMPIRE DAY
TRANSFORMATION IN SCHOOLS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 6.30 p.m. London, April 28. The Labour Party on the London County Council intends to transform Empire Day in the schools into a Commonwealth Day. Mr. Morrison announced that the Labour Party desired to celebrate the occasion in no jingoistic, flag-wagging spirit, nor did it wish to implant feelings of militarism and racial superiority in children’s minds. It should stimulate a domestic love of country and family feeling within the British Commonwealth of Nations, coupled wiih a desire for still wider family fellowship through the League of Nations.
