WEDDING
BUTLER-SCHICKER The marriage took place at the Kaponga Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 18, of Anna Marcia, second daughter of Mrs and the late Mr Alois Schicker, Mangatoki, to Leonard Francis, youngest' son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Butler, New Plymouth. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father McDermott, assisted by the Rev. Father Butler. Miss E. Crowley played the wedding music. The bride was escorted by her brother, Mr A. Schicker, and was attired in white georgette over satin, with long fitting lace cuffs and puff sleeves. Tlie frock was ankle length, fully flared, and a silk embroidered veil was worn, also a coronet of orange blossoms. The bride carried a bouquet of white and pink cactus dahlias and asparagus fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Edie Schicker, wore pale apricot suede crepe with long tight-fitting cuffs of frilled Valencia lace, the skirt being ankle-length and trimmed with flared frills. Shi wore a white picture hat with apricot velvet flowers and carried a bouquet of chrysanthemums in white and bronze shades. The best man was Mr Gordon Herlihy, nephew of the bridegroom. As the bride left the church she was presented with a small silver horseshoe by Annie McCormack as a token of good luck, and a guard of honour was formed outside the church by members of the Children of Mary. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Oddfellows’ Hall, Eltham, where many relatives and friends were present. Mrs Schicker, who received the guests, was dressed in black silk marccain relieved with white and she wore a hat to match, while Mrs Butler, mother of the bridegroom, was attired in a frock of black celanese. The bride and bridegroom left for the south, Mrs Butler’s travelling dress being Afgalaine in saxe blue and grey shades with coat, hat and shoes to match.
