BLUFF HARBOUR BOARD
IMPROVEMENT IN FINANCES. FOURTH PORT OF DOMINION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, March 29. Reviewing the year’s operations, Mr. W. A. Ott, chairman of the Bluff Harbour Board, said that the excess of assets over liabilities was £234,300, and the nett debt stood at the remarkably low figure of £33,200, a reduction of nearly £ll,OOO over the previous year. In overseas exports Bluff occupied the fourth position in the Dominion. The increase in imports was 8.6 per cent, and in exports 9.9 per cent. Mr. Ott stated that he had interviewed the general manager of the Union Steam Ship Company at Wellington, who stated that the company was sympathetically considering the position of the Bluff-Melbourne service and a definite statement would be made as soon as possible after Easter.
