Scanlan’s coats for this winter are quite the nicest and smartest ever been exhibited at the Melbourne Comer and that is saying something. All the newest styles and fabrics are represented and every coat has been personally selected. When inspecting these coats please have a look over the firm’s stock of millinery. It’s an eye-opener in value and smartness. Plenty of Angora and smooth felts.*
With reference to the report on Thursday that Mrs. P. Brophy, Pungarehu, winner of the £2OOO prize in the Golden Chance Art Union, had donated £lOOO to the Roman Catholic Church in her district Mrs. Brophy subsequently informed the Daily News that the report was untrue, as she had not given the donation as stated. The report is also the subject of a letter by the Rev. Dr. J. Kelly in this morning’s issue.
