At its links at Waiwakaiho the New Plymouth Golf Club to-day is holding its annual Easter tournament and Taranaki championship. The qualifying rounds will be played to-day and match play will be on Monday and Tuesday, " with the final on Tuesday afternoon. There are 102 entries, including some notable players from other provinces. The Fitzroy club will hold a tournament com- _ mencing at the Fitzroy links to-day. Rugby football will have its official opening in various parts of the province. At Western Park, New Plymouth, Old Boys , will play Wanganui Old Boys, a side which includes the splendid All Black winger Bullock-Douglas, reckoned to be the best three-quarter in New Zealand to-day. The New Plymouth team has several Taranaki representatives. ■? For bowlers there will be a tournament at Hawera at Easter, while the New Plymouth clubs have arranged several competitions. There is also a one-day •- bowling tournament at Urenui on Easter Monday. Two sports meetings have been arranged at different ends of the province on Easter Monday. At Pukearuhe splendid nominations have been received in axemen’s and novelty events. Aotuhia forms a distinct contrast, the- setting-13 miles inland from Whangamomona being in the heart of the bush.
