BOWLING TOURNAMENTS
PROGRESSIVE PAIRS GAME. CONTESTS AT NEW PLYMOUTH. Several progressive pairs tournaments were held by bowling clubs at New Plymouth yesterday. The weather was ideal for play, with the result that an enjoyable day was spent by bowlers unable to attend the South Taranaki tournament. The West End green was fully occupied. After six rounds of 10. heads each had been played R. Boulton emerged as the winning skip with six wins, G. Sole (five games) being runner-up. C. Rampton, with six wins, was the winning lead. There were 36 players on the Paritutu green, each playing six games. G. Mills (five wins) .was the winning skip after a count back. of points against H. Jordan, who also won five games. Another count back was necessary to make H. Kay the winning lead and P. Moki run-ner-upj each of them having won five games. At Fitzroy 16 competitors played. four games of 15 heads each. W. A. Robertson (four wins) was the winning skip. : J. Harvey and W. Harris, with 2J wins each, tied as winning leads, Harvey securing the verdict on a count back of points.
