YOUNG AIRMAN’S ATTEMPT
ENGLAND-AUSTRALIA RECORD. LESS THAN YEAR’S EXPERIENCE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Rugby;' March 28. A young airman with less than -one year’s flying experience, Mr. H. L. Brooke, of Harrogate, Yorkshire, left Lympne Aerodrome at dawn this morning on an attempt to lower the England to Australia solo flight record of 7 days 3-i hours set up la-.i year by Sir Charles Kingsford Smith. . . Mr. Brooke hopes to reach Brindisi today. He is using the British low-winged monoplane “Heart’s Content,” in which Mr. J. A. Mollison made his first solo east to west flight across the Atlantic. Mr. Brooke thinks that the flight will be useful practice for the England-Aus-tralia race in connection with the Melbourne Centenary celebrations in which he hopes to compete.
