OKAU SCHOOL PICNIC
PROGRAMME OF ATHLETIC EVENTS. The annual picnic of the Okau School was held on Mr. Cannell’s grounds on Friday. There was a large attendance of parents and friends. A programme of sports events ' occupied the ; day. In the evening a dance was held, the children occupying the floor until supper time, and adults continuing later. The dance music was supplied by Miss E. O’Sullivan and Mrs.-E. A. Cannell played extras.

Enjoyable Cricket Match. An enjoyable cricket match, between married and single Okau players was played during the week-end, the married team winning by 25 runs. The -single men, batting first, scored 59. C. Carr (21) was top scorer. Married men made 53, S. Bezzant compiling 16. In the second innings single men were dismissed for 30 runs and the married men passed that total with the loss of six wickets. Continuing the innings the score was carried to 61, A. Petersen (18 retired) .being top-scorer.' Lunch and afternoon tea were served by the ladies.
