The tennis player Lott, commenting on Perry’s statement on his return to England, said: “Australia will take care of Japan, and if Crawford and company cannot do it -we will in the interzone final-” He surmised, however, that Australia and the United States would be the inter-zone finalists. “I think we shall beat Australia three-two or by an even wider margin if Crawford is not the player he was last year; then we shall tackle England.”
