RESULT of go-slow tactics REPEATED WARNING DISREGARDED SHIPOWNERS ACT AT WELLINGTON. WORK TO RESUME THIS MORNING. By Telegraph-Press Association. Wellington, Last Night As waterside workers continued goslow tactics this morning, despite repeated warnings, shipowners paid off all those handling cargo on the seven big overseas liners in port. Some coastal vessels were also affected. The Marama,' which arrived early in the morning and left to-night on a cruise through Marlborough _ Sounds, worked cargo all day, but it is stated that the men working her took things very easily. Trouble has been caused by a certain faction of union members who wish to revert to the terms of the 1929 agreement regarding wages and conditions of employment.' The parties have met on several occasions but failed to agree. The intermittent hold-ups of the past few months, the busiest of the export season, have not tended to facilitate a new agreement, and it is stated reliably that the shipowners have now informed the Waterside Workers’ Federation that they will make no further efforts to discuss a new working agreement until the men resume work and handle cargo at the normal rate, and that any gangs going slow will be immediately paid off. To-day saw this in force for the first time and it is stated to-night that work under normal conditions will be resumed to-morrow morning. - .
