CRICKET AT MANGAMINGI
VISIT OF RAWHITIROA TEAM. ' The second cricket match of the rural competition between Mangamingi and Rawhitiroa was played on Friday, Rawhitiroa winning on the first innings by the comfortable margin of 50 runs. Mangamingi batted first, putting on 58, P. Hickey; 21, E. Woodley 10, C. Christiansen 9 and C.Gear 6 doing best In reply Rawhitiroa made 111 for eight wickets. Of that total D. Knuckey made 41 and Scott 37, the next best being R. Bootten 9 and E. Knuckey 8. In the second innings Mangamingi had five wickets down for 59 (Hickey 34 not but) when rain caused the abandonment, of the game . Afternoon tea was provided by the Mangamingi ladies. Several improvements are being mad« on the Mangamingi golf links and golfing will probably commence in earnest about Easter. The first and third holes, will be lengthened and will be harder and more interesting. Present indications point towards more members this year, especially in the ladies* section.
