Shorts for Squash.
Women are determined to wear shorts for squash rackets, writes Stanley Doust in the Daily Mail. They are also equally determined not to be dictated to by anybody as to what the colour, shape, or length of their shorts should be. A secretary of one of the leading sports clubs in London—a man—finding that the clashing of the colours on the courts somewhat jarred his artistic taste, thought it a good idea for the women squash rackets team to turn out in uniform. He called a meeting of the team, which numbers five, and suggested that the players might decide among themselves a suitable colour scheme for their costumes. This suggestion was rejected -with scorn, and the secretary was indignantly told that every woman wished to retain her own individuality, and that they would turn out in any colours they liked.. Therefore we must resign ourselves to seeing a display of colours on tire squash rackets courts for the remainder of the season. The clashing of such hues as vivid green with a brilliant red or a puce and scarlet must patiently be endured by the spectators because of women’s dislike to be dressed alike.
