Mrs. C. Pearce, who has been convener of the ladies’ committee of the Hawera Municipal Band for some years, and has done excellent work in that position, has been elected a life member of the band. ADVERTISERS’ ANNOUNCEMENTS. A South Taranaki dairymen’s picnic will be held in the Te Ngutu Domain on Saturday next. Hot water will be provided and free lorries will leave Okaiawa at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Further details are advertised. A carnival dance in aid of the country candidate in the queen carnival will be held in the Okaiawa hall on Tuesday, March 20. A carnival dance in aid of the business candidate will be held in the Winter Show Buildings, Hawera, on Friday night. A weight-guessing competition at the Auroa cattle show was won by E. Dallinger (1211 b the exact weight of the sheep. C. Jones (121ilb) was second.
