NEW CAPTAIN FOR SURREY
D. R. JARDINE’S PLACE FILLED.
OWN SUGGESTION ADOPTED.
By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 7 p.m. London, March 5.
It is officially stated that D. R. Jardine has informed the Surrey Cricket Club that it is unlikely after his absence in India that he will be able to play regularly for the county in 1934. He suggested it would be better in the interests of Surrey if a captain were appointed who could play regularly. Jardine hopes, however, to play whenever possible.
The committee with great regret but in the best interests of Surrey cricket agreed to Jardine’s suggestion. Therefore E. Holmes was appointed captain.
