DEATH OF A PROSPECTOR
WALKED THOUGH BADLY INJURED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Greymouth, March 5. At an inquest on Robert Samuel Fleming, a prospector who was carried with much difficulty over rough country to an ambulance, a verdict was returned that death was due to a fractured skull and laceration of the brain through being struck by a log while working at a gold claim 18 miles up the river from Punakaiki.
The evidence showed five fractures, a dislocated shoulder and a broken rib, yet deceased remained conscious for some time and even walked a distance with the aid of his son.
