MAHOENUI NOTES

SETTLERS’ ANNUAL PICNIC. The Mahoenui settlers’ annual picnic was held on Friday in ideal weather conditions. Mr. A. C. Moir lent a suitable paddock. There was a representative gathering. Under the supervision of Mrs. J. Old luncheon was served under the willow trees. Ice-creams were served by Misses M. and P. Roberts. Many indulged in swimming in the river. Messrs J. C. Moss and J. Personal. , . Mrs. Henry, Wellington, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. D. O’Donoghue. Mrs. C. Roberts has returned from a holiday at New Plymouth and in the surrounding districts. Mr. and Mrs. Mathieson, accompanied by' Mrs. Maindonald, Hawera, has returned after spending several weeks with Mrs. J. Old and Mrs. Roy Old. Miss M. Rattenbury spent several days with her parents last week. Mr. and Mrs. A. T, Morton have returned from Auckland, where they have been visiting their son, Mr. J. Morton, Mt. Eden. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Rattenbury, Miss J. Rattenbury, Miss Jill Rattenbury and Mr. G. Tubman spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. T. Hayward, Okau. Mrs. Rolfe, Tikorangi, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. L. G. Purdie. Miss M. McLure was recently admitted to the Taumarunui Hospital. The Misses Watson, Pio Pio, who have been the guests of Mrs. C. J. O’Malley, have returned home. Miss N. Hillman is spending a few days with her mother.
