AIR ENGINE STOPS
SIX USE PARACHUTES. LAND ALMOST WITHOUT HURT. Honolulu, Feb. 22. Six navy airmen were flying over Schofield Airport, Hawaii, aboard a bomber, when the engine stopped. Mechanics having failed to fix the trouble, the officer commanding ordered them over the side. From an altitude of 1100 ft. they descended by parachutes, all landing together almost unhurt within 40 seconds. A curious feature of the mishap is that the pilotless plane glided to a landing almost undamaged.
