BUTTER SALES IN IRELAND

PRODUCT BECOMING POPULAR. SALES SCHEME OPENED IN BELFAST Efforts to popularise New Zealand products in Ireland are mentioned in a letter recently received by a Hawera resident. Although Ireland produces large quantities of butter, New Zealand butter is fairly popular among Irish people. The letter expresses the writer’s, pleasure that prices were rising. Wool in particular seemed to have taken a great jump for the better. This would please the sheep farmers immensely. In Royal Avenue, Belfast, a New Zealand shop was opened for a fortnight selling samples of New Zealand cheese and butter. On some days the doors had to be closed owing to the staff being unable to cope with the rush of people. Lord Craigavon made a fine opening speech, pressing on the Irish people when they were unable to obtain Irish butter to resort to New Zealand. It was, he said, far above any other butter ever made and its sale would help New; Zealand, which for the population bought , more Irish linen than any other, country in the world, so that it was. for Irishmen to give New Zealand - preference. The writer hoped in future they would do so, as she always got it .when; possible.
