FLYING SHELL-POACHERS
COMPLAINT IN RABAUL AREA SHIP IN UNFREQUENTED HARBOURS AEROPLANE TO SEARCH FOR REEFS By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright Rec. 7 P-m. Rabaul, March 4. Mr. William Baker, a planter in the islands 200. miles west of Rabaul, reports that a mysterious plane has been sighted over Witu and that an unidentified steamer has been seen entering unfrequented harbours. It is supposed the ship is a mother ship for shell-poachers while the plane searches for promising 1 Planters, who are dependent on shellfishing because of the collapse of the rubber market, complain that poachers are denuding the best reefs.
