NEW PLYMOUTH OPERA HOUSE, “BY CANDLELIGHT.” “By Candlelight,” whTch features Elissa Landi, Paul Lukas and Nils Asther, will be finally screened at the Opera House to-night? An added stage attraction will be the Vagabond Vocalist. . Warner Baxter, the principal of “Paddy the Next Best Thing and Penthouse,” handles a difficult role with his usual facility in “As Husbands Go, which commences at the Opera House tomorrow night. Warner Baxter gives perhaps the' most convincing performance of as a husband who believes that his wife, is in. love with another man. Quixotically, he determines to. prove the worthiness of his rival, relegating his own sentiments to the background. From this juncture the action of the film quickens to an unusual climax. In support of Warner Baxter there are . Warner Gland, who gives an excellent interpretation, this time in a Western role, Helen Vinson and G. P. Huntley, jun. An interesting supporting programme precedes the main film and includes two Fox News reels, “Scraping the Sky,” which deals wdth the hazards- faced by builders of skyscrapers, and “Twin Dukes and a Duchess,” a tin-type drama of the early days of the_ cinema,
