KIDNAPPED MAN FREED

Mr. Edward Bremner, aged 36, banker and member of a wealthy family con-' trolling large brewing interests, who was kidnapped on January 18 and held for £40,000 ransom, has been freed after the payment of £4OOO, states a St. Paul message. Mr. Brewer was beaten during his .captivity and his eyes were taped for 22 days. A doctor described his head injuries as serious. Six or seven men are sought as the kidnappers, including three who pushed Mr. Brewer from a sedan car in the residential district of Rochester, Minnesota, late last night. The victim’s relatives kept bargain with the kidnappers to preserve secrecy until Mr. Brewer was returned. They are now aiding in the capture of the gang.
