Miss L. McCready, who has been the guest of Mrs. T. J. Scott, has returned to Wellington. The Misses Lavery, Egmont Street, were visited by their brother, Mr. J. Lavery, Palmerston North, this week. Mrs. A. B. Currie will leave next week on a lioliday visit to Wanganui and New Plymouth. Mrs. Keane, who has been an inmate of the Hawera hospital, has returned to her home at Alton. Miss B. Nielsen, who has been visiting her mother at Alton, has returned to New Plymouth. Mrs. W. Kelly has returned from a holiday trip to Tongaporutu and Waitomo. Mrs. A. J. Gibbs, who will compete at the Hawera croquet competitions next week, is being visited by Captain and Mrs. Hartnell, New Plymouth. Miss Linda Grant, of the New Plymouth hospital staff, is spending her annual holiday at Patea, Hawera and Eltham. The Misses Thelma and Doreen Hunt have returned to Pahiatua from Alton. They were the guests of Mrs. W. E. Tayler. Mrs. Naismith and daughter, Wellington, and Miss Gladys Naismith, England, are the guests of Mrs. Frank Naismith, Rutland Street.

Miss Molly Davidson has returned to Opaku from a holiday at Upper Hutt, where she stayed with Miss Ruth Findlay. Miss Roslyn Honeyfield was hostess at a bridge evening at Whenuakura this week. Among the guests were Misses P. Simmons, D. Roberts, H. Simmons, V. Sheild and S. Roberts. A party attended by over 40 young people was held in the Whenuakura hall yesterday. Dancing, games and competitions were enjoyed. Mrs. R. Hughes, Otautu, was the organiser. Mrs. W. Lester and Mrs. A. Maxwell were the winners of the Patea croquet silver buttons doubles competition on Tuesday. On the occasion of Miss Pearce’s birthday this week Mrs. J. S. Pearce was hostess at a large party at Whenuakura on Wednesday. Five tables were used for bridge and one fox- five hundred. Among the guests were Mesdames W. T. Simmons, L. Honeyfield, C. Honeyfield sen., I. Jones, S. MacDonald, A. Maxwell, R. M. Stevens, F. Besley and G. R. Taylor.
