A large haul of flounders and soles was made by a party at Kai Iwi Beach, Wanganui, on Thursday evening, when Mr. E. P. V. Sealy, manager of the National Bank of New Zealand, was able to point to over 800 fish as his “bag” for less than two hours with the net. Seven casts were made with the net, which is about 100 ft long. One cast resulted in 217 fish being netted, while another brought in 187 of various sizes. The Farmers’ Co-op. advertises in this issue particulars of its Kohuratahi annual sheep fair to be held on Monday next. The entry comprises 6500 sheep, which includes oh account of one breeder 700 genuine 4-year-old ewes with one earmark, and 2500 4 and 5-year-old ewes, being the annual drafts of well known settlers in the Kohuratahi and TahOra districts. Approximately 500 2, 4 and 6tooth ewes will also be included in the offering, in addition to over 2000 m.s. lambs, and this will be an excellent opportunity of satisfying the requirements of all intending purchasers. The sheen coming forward to this fixture consist of the best lines of ewes in the district, and are off hilly country w’hich is free from ragwort.
