WEDDING AND A HUNT
PAYMENT FOR CLOTHES CLAIMED.
Because of a suit purchased when he was best man at a wedding in 1931 and a vest for hunting attire at the same time Kenneth Herbert Bedford, Motonui, was subjected to strict examination by Mr. N. Little, who represented the supplier of the clothes, Charles Goldsmith, in an application for a judgment summons order against Bedford at the Magistrate s Court, New Plymouth, yesterday. Bedford was ordered by Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., to pay the amount of the debt, £lO 6s 6d, forthwith, in default ten days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended on payment. of £1 P er month from March 20.
Questioned Bedford admitted having a roll of notes when he secured the clothes and which Goldsmith might have seen. The money was not his; he had it to pay debts for another man. He was acting whip for the Hunt when he got the vest. He had intended to pay for the clothes but lost his employment. He had not hunted for two seasons.
