TAHORA SWIMMING POOL
RELIEF FROM THE WEATHER, Strenuous efforts to obtain a swimming pool for children were recently made by Messrs. P. Fougere and Robinson at Tahora. Their efforts were rewarded at the conclusion of a week’s hard work, and now not only the children but adults are seeking relief from the heat in the newly formed baths. The Tahora school opened this year with a roll number of 33, an increase of four from last year. Three youths who found a tin. of blasting powder in a vacated hut apparently decided to celebrate Guy Fawkes day, although rather late in the season. Road)men working near heard an explosion and went to investigate and found most of the open fireplace contents scattered, over the floor of the whare. Bottles had aparently been filled with powder and lit in the fireplace. Apart from a few loosened bricks no damage was done. The roadmen decided to issue a salutary warning to the youths.
