INGLEWOOD SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE HeLD. The monthly meeting of the Inglewood school committee was held on Tuesday, when Messrs A. Grant (chairman), S. Lovell (secretary), H. Drake, E. H. Braybrooke, M. Sutherland, E. Clarke and R. Brown (headmaster) were present. The headmaster said the school opened on Monday with an attendance of 246. At the end of last year the attendance was 259 and from that number 28 scholars had left.after passing standards 6 and 1. The secretary reported the ball held as a “breaking up” ceremony at the end of last year showed a small profit. It was stated that during the holidays the flower plots had been interfered with, as had also the shelter sheds. The matter of reinstating the night watchman was discussed, but was left to the next meeting to see whether the interference continued. It was stated that this year was the diamond jubilee of the school and special arrangements would have to be made. For the school picnic it was decided to co-operate with the Inglewood Athletic Club in a sports day in April as a gala day for the children and to hold a picnic probably at the end of the .year. The headmaster was given authority to spend UP to £lO on the school library and school requisites. Messrs A. Grant and E. Clark were appointed a visiting committee. '
