OTAGO WINS THIRD RACE

CONTEST FOR SANDERS CUP. SOUTHLAND BOAT SECOND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The third race for the Sanders Cup to-day was won by Eileen (Otago), with Vai (Southland) second, Irene (Canterbury) third and Lavina (Wellington) last. The t race was sailed in a light northerly wind over a leeward and windward course three times round. The Otago skipper sailed a good race and the Vai also made a good showing, holding a leading position at two points in the race. Eileen took the lead in the last lap but at that time the Eileen, Vai and Irene all seemed to have about equal chances of winning. Eileen held her lead well, winning by 70 seconds. Vai beat Irene by less than a length and Lavina finished nearly six minutes later.
