ENTIRE FUNDS CONFISCATED ACTION BY PRUSSIAN STATE EDICT OF THE NAZI BISHOP SUPPORT OF FOLLOWERS By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Frankfort, January 28. The entire property and funds of the People’s Union for Catholic Germany, Munchen and Gladbach were confiscated by the Prussian State. This is the final blow to the world’s strongest Catholic organisation. The Nazi Bishop, Dr. Ludwig Muller, has suspended Pastor Niemoller for failure to suppress disloyalty to Bishop Muller. With Herr Goering’s aid Bishop Muller has determined to dominate the Prussian Church. He has suspended the church senate, also dissident pastors, and has deprived Pastor Niemoller of his pastorate. Bishop Muller rules 19,000,000 German Protestants. The Daily Telegraph’s Berlin correspondent says that Bishop Muller has completely crushed the opposition. He has promulgated a decree making himself dictator to whom the heads of the Other churches have capitulated. An important factor has been the telephone tapping activities of Captain Goering’s secret police. Conversations of opposition pastors have been tapped and phrases culled interpreted as showing disloyalty to Hitler. The mass of laity is in ignorance of the situation as no papers are allowed to publish anything except Muller’s statements. Protests from pulpits and meetings are also forbidden.
