HYDRAULIC TAPPET
ELIMINATION OF NOISE. AEROPLANE DESIGNER’S DEVICE. London, Jan. 15. The famous aeroplane designer Major Frank Halford has invented a noiseless hydraulic tappet which eliminates valve clatter in aeroplane and motor-car engines, says the motoring correspondent of the Mirror.
The device reduces wear by the employment of an oil-cushion, and is on the telescopic principle.
