RESULTS OF THIRD ROUND FOUR TEAMS RUNNING LEVEL. WINS FOR NEW PLYMOUTH TEAMS. Despite inclement weather, the third round of the Soffe tennis competition was played on, Saturday, wins going to New Plymouth, Waiwaka and Rotokare. Rotokare easily defeated , Waitara by 17 sets to 7, New Plymouth defeated Fitzroy by 19 sets to five, and the closest match was Waiwaka against Inglewood, Waiwaka winning 14 sets to Inglewood's 10. The points in the cup competition are now as follow:—

WAIWAKA V. INGLEWOOD. NEW PLYMOUTH TEAM TOO' GOOD. Although Waiwaka defeated Inglewood by the fairly comfortable margin of 14 sets to 10, 153 games to 128, some, of the matches hardly resulted as expected. For instance, Mrs. Grant, who is not ranked on the North Taranaki ladder, defeated Mrs. J. Leggat, fifth on the ladder, fairly comfortably. Results (Inglewood names first) are as follow:—

ROTOKARE’S BIG WIN. WAITARA WINS SEVEN SETS. Although Rotokare had a margin of ten sets in the mat,ch against Waitara, the margin in games was not so great as the scores would suggest. The most notable win was that of Mrs. Sole oyer Miss Gorrie. The latter played her usual steady game but she found her opponent at her best. Mrs. Soles well placed drives enabled her to storm the net where she frequently cut off Miss Gorrie’s returns for winners. R. Gilmore should prove an acquisition to Waitary His match with N.
