EVENING WEDDING
GALLOWAY—SMART. The wedding took place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Plymouth, on Saturday evening of Dorothy May, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Smart, Rimu Street, -Fitzroy, to Lionel Gordon, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. David Galloway, Heretaunga Street, Palmerston North. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. D. McLennan Wilson, with Mr. W. L. Hay playing the we.dding music. As the bride entered the church she made a picture in her frock of parchment georgette and lace, cut on slimfitting lines and with a coatee to match. She wore a large picture hat with touches of orange, and her shoes were of parchment satin to match the frock. The sheaf of autumn-tinted flowers she carried gave an artistic note of contrast.
The bride was attended by her cousin, Miss Kathleen Smart, s bridesmaid, and two cousins, Shirlye Wicksteed and June Strauchon, as flower-girls. The bridesmaid was dressed in a frock of powder blue crinkled organdie with a coatee, and her hat and mittens were in shades to tone. She carried a bouquet of apricot and gold begonias. The flower-girls wore frocks of blue and pink floral organdie respectively. They had wreaths of flowers round their heads and carried gold baskets of pink and blue flowers.
The best man was Mr. Eric Smart, brother of the bride. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, where Mrs. Smart to receive the guests was wearing’ a frock of silvergrey silk marocain with touches of cherry, and a black hat. The bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. Galloway, wore a dress of navy crinkled crepe marocain trimmed with touches of new gold, and a hat to match.
When the bride and bridegroom left on their honeymoon the bride was wearing a powder blue ensemble with a smart blue hat to match, white shoes and white organdie gloves.
