NO QUOTA FOR LIQUOR
AUSTRALIANS DISAPPOINTED NEGOTIATIONS IN UNITED STATES. EFFECT OF INTERMINABLE DELAY. EUROPE FLOODING GOOD MARKET. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright, Rec. 7 p.m. New York, Jan. 26. Mr. Gordon Coulter, a director of Stephen King Ltd., Melbourne, who has been surveying the possibility of the Australian wine and spirits trade in America, informed the Australian Press Association that he was returning immediately owing to the seemingly interminable delay of the Administration at Washington in granting Australia an import quota. He expressed regret and disappointment that Australia had no Opportunity to do business while French and Italian goods were flooding the market. Mr. Coulter said dealers and hotels were favourably impressed with samples of Australian liquors and eager to place orders if a quota were available. “Each day that quota is delayed it places Australia at a greater disadvantage in a market that presents an enormous opportunity for wines and spirits,” he added.
