FLANNAGAN CUP POSTPONED
COLD WEATHER THE REASON. EAST END GALA HELD OVER. A special sub-committee of the. Tara-. naki Swimming Centre decided last night to postpone the Flannagan Cup open sea swim, which was to have been held at New Plymouth, to-day. The reasons are that the weather has militated against swimmers obtaining any practice, with the consequence that th? race plight prove too much for th? majority .of competitors. The cup race, the only one of its kind in New Zealand, is an annual one, starting off Kawaroa. Park, and finishing at East End. The water this year has been colder than usual. The- committee:., has postponed the event indefifinitely,' ■ In conjunction with the Flannagan Cup, a gala day was to have been held at the East End and Strandon beaches. This also has been postponed.
