MANAIA ITEMS.
Miss M. Mead has returned from Palmerston North and Otaki, where she spent her holidays. Mrs. C. Burke and the Misses B. and P. Burke, KaUpokonui, are spending a holiday at Stratford. Mrs. Hawkes, Westport, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. C. R. Davies. Mrs. L. A. Walters, who recently was an inmate of the Hawera hospital, is convalescing at New Plymouth. Miss I. Mourie is the guest of Mrs. A. Gamlin, Kaupokonui beach. Miss V. Mourie has returned from the Kaupokonui beach, where she was the guest of Mrs. A. Gamlin. Mrs. E. T. Burke, who is an inmate of the Hawera hospital, is making good progress and is expected home shortly. Mrs. Cryer and daughter are spending a holiday at the Kaupokonui beach. ENGAGEMENTS.. Alice, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Bell, Puniho, Taranaki, to Thomas Clifford, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Fookes, “Willowfield,” Cameron Street, New Plymouth. BATTLEY—ATKINSON. Lucelle Moncrieffe Atkinson, only child, of the late Mr. J- W. Atkinson, New Plymouth, to Cecil Henry Battley, Mount Albert, Auckland. The marriage will take place at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Auckland, on February 10.
