GREAT EXCITEMENT AT ADELAIDE. THOUSANDS STRUGGLE TO ENTER. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Adelaide, Jan, 15. The opening of the first registered betting shop in the city caused tremendous excitement. Although 20 bookmakers were in attendance they were unable to cope with the rush of business which exceeded all expectations. Thousands fought madly to enter the basement of Tattersall’s Club where bets were being accepted on the Melbourne races, as there was no meeting at Adelaide.
