HOUSE BURNED TO GROUND

WAIMATE RESIDENCE DESTROYED OUTBREAK AT DAIRY COMPANY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Waimate, Jan. 15. An eight-roomed house, owned by P. G. Berry, was burned to the ground on Sunday morning, the fire having an extensive hold before the alarm was given. The house was just vacated by the tenant on Thursday. The origin of the fire is a mystery. ‘ A small outbreak in the coal shed of the Waimate Dairy Company on Saturday morning is believed to be due to spontaneous combustion of the coal. The outbreak was suppressed before the brigade arrived.
