C.T. MINSTREL TROUPE
CONCERT AT NEW PLYMOUTH. BENEFIT FOR RELIEF WORKERS. A second performance of the programme arranged by the Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen’s Association was given in the Workers’ Social Hall, New Plymouth, last night. As was explained by Mr. B. Thorne in returning thanks to the association and to the performers, the function had been arranged at short notice and this was reflected in the size of the audience. Keen appreciation of all the items was displayed whether they were the quips and songs of the “Nigger Minstrels” who filled the first part of the programme, or the comic sketches of the later portion. Madame Veta Cornwall’s singing was greatly appreciated, as was the dainty dancing of several of the pupils of Miss Elwyn Riley. The takings amounted to £5 ss, and will benefit the relief workers’ sick and benefit fund.
