OPUNAKE CONVENT PICNIC
DISTRICT GENERAL ITEMS. The Opunake convent school broke up last Wednesday. Before the dispersal the Sisters and scholars held a picnic on the Opunake beach. A “kitchen evening” organised by the Opunake Anglican ladies’ guild was held in the parish hall on Thursday night, Miss W. Mowrie being the guest of honour. Games, competitions and dancing were held, competitions being won by Mesdames E. G. Baylis, D. Mowrie and D. Ross. Mrs. H. J. Newman supplied the music. After supper Mrs. A. J. Famell on behalf of those present presented to Miss Mowrie the many gifts with the good wishes of her friends. Mr. C. Wesley replied on behalf of Miss Mowrie.
