DOMINION LAMBING SEASON

INCREASE IN NORTH ISLAND. SMALL DECREASE IN SOUTH. An estimate of the current year’s lambing for the Dominion by the department of agriculture shows 17,209,000 breeding ewes expected to produce 15,457,000 lambs, a percentage of 89.82. In the North Island 9,318,000 ewes are estimated to give a percentage of . 91.23 which is higher than any season in the last six years; and South Island 7,890,000 ewes are expected to have a percentage of 78.14 of lambs, a fraction less than last year. The Dominion average is one per cent, higher than last year and higher _ than in any of the last six yeats. The highest district yield, 95,26 per cent., is expected from 3,591,000 ewes in the Wellington and West Coast area.
