GENERAL AND PERSONAL ITEMS.
A fair attendance of parents and friends was present at the Tikorangi school last jweek when the judging of the calves entered in the competition under the auspices of the boys and girls’ clubs was held. The non-commissioned officers of the Tikorangi troop of Queen Alexandra’s Mounted Rifles held a parade on Tuesday when Captain E. Hatford, now in charge of B squadron, was present. The Tikorangi Sports Club held a meeting at the school on Wednesday, a fair number of members attending and Mr. Gordon Foreman presiding. The meeting was called to elect a club captain, Mr. S. McCann being elected. The matter of arranging games with neighbouring clubs was left in the hands of the club captain, as was the drawing up of a new ladder.
A number of young people of Tikorangi and surrounding districts gathered on Saturday, night at the new home of Mr. and Mrs. James Sarten who were given 'a welcome home.
Miss Linda Pruden left on Thursday for a holiday at Wellington. Miss G. Cashmere has been the guest of Mrs. A. Alexander.
Miss B. Sarten has returned from S. Mary’s school for the summer vacation. Mr. C. P. Mahy is to enter the New Plymouth hospital this week for treatment.
Miss I. Foreman returned recently from a holiday ‘ •. the Auckland district.
