DROUGHT IN ENGLISH WINTER
WATER CONSUMPTION CURTAILED.
WEATHER STILL SUNNY AND DRY.
British Official Wireless. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Dec. 15. The temperature, although still low, rose in England to-day, but it is expected it will become colder later. The weather is sunny and-dry. The Channel continues to be very rough. Despite gales and intense cold the summer’s drought continues. Prayers for rain are being said in many churches. Village wells are dry, and the inhabitants are obliged to carry water from distant sources through the snow. Over 50 towns and cities, in addition to scores of villages, are curtailing water consumption.
