NEW MATERNITY HOSPITAL
URGENCY AT DUNEDIN STRESSED.
MINISTER AND BOARD HAGGLING.
By Telegraph—Press Association.
Dunedin, Dec. 13.
In his annual report to the university council Sir Lindo Ferguson. . dean of the medical faculty, deals particularly with the embarrassing increase in the number of entrants and the urgency of a new maternity hospital. As to the latter the dean says: I have been assured that some definite offer from the Minister to the hospital board will shortly be forthcoming, but to put the matter briefly the efficiency of our teaching and the training of the profession of the future is being prejudiced by a haggle between the Minister and the board as to whether a few thousand pounds should come from the country s general revenue or be a charge on the Dunedin ratepayers.”
