EARTH SHOCKS AT GUNNING
RESIDENTS’ ALARM CONTINUES. AVALANCHE OF EARTH IN QUARRY. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, December 16. More severe earth shocks were experienced at Gunning, and the residents were alarmed. Plaster fell from the walls and the face of a quarry on the town common shifted. Workmen in the quarry ran before an avalanche of earth.
Seismographs in Sydney registered the tremors, but experts say that there is no cause for anxiety. Tremors have been occurring in .the district intermittently for some years, but have been more frequent and pronounced since December 1, when many buildings were damaged. On December 8 the residents were- alarmed when a subterranean explosion shook the buildings.
