CRASH INTO BRIDGE PILLAR
FATAL ACCIDENT AT WELLINGTON ANOTHER IN MOTOR-CAR INJURED. By Tciegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Oct.. 20. A roadster motor-car when leaving the town this morning shortly before four o’clock ran straight into a pillar at the railway bridge over the Hutt Road near Kaiwarra. George Campbell Smith, a married man residing at Hastings, manager for Messrs Cole, Ltd., building contractors, Auckland, who are building a chain of theatres, one of which is the State Theatre, Wellington, was killed, and his companion, L. Sinclair, Auckland, manager of Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd.', the headquarters of which are in Queen Street, Auckland, was sent to hospital suffering from shock, a cut on the chin, and an injury to the right ankle. Sinclair’s condition is reported to be fairly serious.
