Miss Montague, Auckland, is the guest ;of Mrs. N. D. Connell. Mrs. R. H. Gover was hostess at tea during the , week. Miss Bell, who has been the guest of Miss Hooper, has returned to Wellington. Miss T. Gibson is visiting Wellington. Mrs. Burgoyn, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. C. H. Courtney. The closing of the Eltham Ladies’ Golf Club on Tuesday was attended by over 80 players, including 40 visitors from surrounding clubs. A Canadian foursome was won by Mrs. Luxton and Mrs. Preece (Te Ngutu), Mrs. A. Chrystal and Mrs. J. D. McKay being runners-up. A long-drive competition was won by Miss M. Sangster (Stratford) and the putting competition by Miss E. Wanklyn (Foxton). ELTHAM GOLF DANCE, To finish the day a dance was held by the Eltham Golf Club after the closing of the season on Thursday. Waite’s Adelphi Band played the music and Mr. A. Tiplady was master of ceremonies. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Dr. Armstrong and Mrs. G. A. Carter. Among those present were Mesdames L. T. Quin, A. A. Stewart, J. H. Morton, J. Q. Best, G. H. Brown, C. A. Belcher, P. Harrison, G. A. Carter and B. B. Armstrong, Misses G. Syme, H. Stewart, W. Carter, J. O’Hagan, R. Gibb, Hill, G. Harcourt, Marie Gibson, M. Bell, L. Ritter and W. Weir.
