ODDFELLOWS’ LODGE MEETING. t> The fortnightly meeting of members of the Kaponga Oddfellows’ Lodge took place on Monday evening, when there was a good attendance. N.G. Bro. A. Schicker presided. The N.G. extended a hearty welcome bad: to the lodge room to Bro. D. D. Dagg, who was present for the first time for many months. P.G. Bro. Dagg was in hospital for nine weeks and has been convalescent at his home for some time. Bro. Dagg was, at the request of the N.G., accorded lodge honours. In acknowledging the honour Bro. Dagg thanked members for the good wishes and interest in his health. A debate was undertaken, the subject being “Will the time come yyhen a woman will occupy the district grand master’s office?” The affirmative was taken by Bro. A. Melville and the negative by P.G. Bro. C. E. Betts. The debate lasted well over an hour and was of much interest. All the members contributed to the discussion. At the conclusion of the debate a vote was taken and the chairman declared the negative to have won. The offer by Bro. R. D. Dagg to give a lecture on elementary astronomy was received with appreciation.
