MAN STILL MISSING

NO TRACE OF MR. CARRYER. INTENSIVE SEARCH MADE. An intensive search for Mr. Edgar Carryer by police and civilian parties yesterday and on Thursday failed to establish contact with the missing man, and grave anxiety is felt for his safety. Mr. Carryer left his home, Birdwood Avenue, Moturoa, New Plymouth, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday to do business in the town. He was seen in the town about 11.30 a.m., apparently in his usual good spirits, but has not been heai\d of since. He was expected home for lunch, but when he had not returned after a reasonable period his relatives communicated with the police. Mr. Carryer did some business in the town, as he had intended, and nothing unusual was noticed about him. He has not been sleeping well and has suffered from loss of memory lately, which has made his relatives anxious for him.

A party of five police and several civilians search for Mr. Carryer on Thursday at Pukekura Park and at Fitzroy beach and late on Thursday afternoon two parties from the Taranaki Alpine Club searched around Paritutu and from the railway station to the Waiwakaiho River. The search was continued in other directions yesterday by the police, assisted by relatives and civilians. All efforts to locate Mr. Carryer were, however, of no avail Mr. Carryer is managing-director of Carryer’s Ltd., Stratford, and has been living in partial retirement at New Plymouth for five months. His sons and his son-in-law, Mr. Cyril Fisher, are actively engaged in the business. Mr. Carryer was a popular and highly respected resident of Stratford for many years prior to entering into partial retirement from business at New Plymouth. He has been a borough councillor of Stratford and was prominent in many other directions. Mr. Carryer is 57 years of age, sft Bin in height, clean shaven with ruddy complexion and slightly bald. When last seen he was wearing a lignt grey suit, light grey hat and black shoes. The search will be renewed to-day. ,
