DRIFT ACROSS NORTH SEA

GERMAN balloon bits beach. VETERAN DIECKMANN INJURED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Sept 24. A German balloon, one of six participating in a long distance flight, left Dusseldorf at 5 o’clock last evening and drifted over the North Sea, where the gas bag was punctured. The three occupants threw overboard everything moveable, but the balloon struck the water at Berwick at noon, where it was dragged to the beach in a heavy wind. Though 30 spectators seized a drag rope, the balloon hit the sea wall, and Dr. Dieckmann, veteran balloonist, who has made 130 trips, was injured.
