A feat unique in championship golf was performed by Eric Fidd.an when playing Jack McLean in the final of the Irish open championship at Newcastle, County Down. He twice holded out in one. In the first round he holed his tec shot at the seventh, 123 yards, and again holed his tee shot at the fourteenth, 208 yards. Nevertheless, McLean retained the title by 3 up and 2.
