TROUT FISHING SEASON.

ANGLERS’ PROSPECTS GOOD. The prospects for South Taranaki anglers on the opening of the season on October 1 appear to be good. The majority of streams are well stocked and there have been no floods to damage the young fry. Food has been plentiful and the trout are in fairly good condition. Anglers are becoming keen and many are preparing their tackle. Licenses are being taken out readily and there should be an equal number of fishermen to that of last season. . '

Those desiring big fish will find the Manganui one of the best locations. Other popular rivers are the Mangawhero, Kaupokonui, Waingongoro, Otakeho and Kapuni. The fish in the last-named river, however, though plentiful are rather small.
